REPAIR GUIDE

Step by step

  1. 1
    Disconnect the boot
Pull the rubber boot off the plug. Do not use the wire as a handle.
  2. 2
    Unscrew the plug
Use a spark plug socket. If the electrode is black, oily, or the porcelain is cracked, replace it.
  3. 3
    Set the gap
Check the engine sticker — often 0.7 to 0.8 mm. Hand-thread the new plug, then snug it a half turn.
  4. 4
    Refit the boot and pull
It should fire on the first or second pull if fuel is fresh.
